Team 402 Wins Best Overall at the Quad Cities Wild Game Cook-Off

An aroma of delicious dishes filled the air as AWF Wild Game Cook-Off teams fired up their grills in the Longhorn Arena in Tuscumbia, Saturday, March 18th, preparing various mouthwatering fish, fowl and game dishes. With 39 cook teams and close to 600 members and guests in attendance, Team 402 captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Crawfish & Grits. Team 402 including Team 402 including Anthony McGill, Celeste McGill, Bobby Hodges, Michael Maloney, and Sonny Box will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on August 5, 2017 to compete for the title of AWF 2017 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.

Other winners included:
Fish Division: First Place – Team 402 including Anthony McGill, Celeste McGill, Bobby Hodges, Michael Maloney, and Sonny Box cooking Crawfish & Grits; Second Place – Bootlegg BBQ including Mike Page & Kedia Page cooking Cajun Yellowfin Tuna; Third Place – Fowl Play including Adam Hudson, RJ McKee, Alicia Collis and Daniel Speakman cooking Wild Orange Snapper.

Fowl Division: First Place – Fiddler’s Farm Meatheads including Dallas Fowler, Mark Nelson and Wes Canestrari cooking Pheasant Rollups; Second Place – Happy Hollow Smokers including Randle Austin and Jeff Talbot cooking Quail; Third Place – Team 402 including Anthony McGill, Celeste McGill, Bobby Hodges, Michael Maloney, and Sonny Box cooking Jalapeno Bacon Duck Poppers.

Game Division: First Place – The Lumbee Squaws including Anita Cummings, Mary Borden, Kris Raley and Beth Raley cooking Mashed Up Elk Meatloaf; Second Place – Rib Ticklers including Murrell Frazier, Debbie Frazier, Jack Stewart and Patty Boldin cooking Succulent Hawaiian Deer; Third Place – Bootlegg BBQ including Mike Page & Kedia Page cooking Elk Nachos.

Youth: First Place – DP BBQ including cooking Smoked Snow Geese; Second Place – Jr. Rib Ticklers including Arianna Frazier cooking Spanish Turkey; Third Place – Hooks & Horns Jr. cooking Blazin’ Antelope.

Potluck: First Place – Deer Heads cooking Bama Sweet Potato Chili; Second Place – The American Chestnut Foundation including Will Calhoun, Dr. Carmen Burkhalter, Harris Parker and Jennifer Brown cooking Chestnuts.

Hobo Jungle took home the People’s Choice Award and 2nd Place Presentation Runner-Up Award, while Happy Hollow Smokers came in first for Best Presentation Award.
