Mid-States Asphalt Wins Best Overall at the AWF Tuscaloosa Wild Game Cook-Off

This past Thursday, the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) Tuscaloosa Wild Game Cook-Off was a huge success; with over 400 members and guests in attendance, delicious food and fantastic entertainment! An aroma of enticing dishes filled the air as cook teams fired up their grills at Woods & Water, Inc in Tuscaloosa; preparing various mouthwatering dishes like Shrimp & Grits, Mild But Wild Pheasant Chowder and Venison Buck Bites.
 
Mid-State Asphalt captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their delicious Brick House Bass Tacos. Mid-State Asphalt including Chad Wilson, Jake Goodin, Jeremy Traweek and Chad Stokes will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on August 4, 2018 to compete for the title of AWF 2018 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion. Other winners included:

Fish Division: First Place Mid-State Asphalt including Chad Wilson, Jake Goodin, Jeremy Traweek and Chad Stokes cooking Brick House Bass Tacos; Second PlaceCo-Op Cut Ups including Kirk Green, Jimmy Sims, Jon Mims, Wendell Mims and Shelby Ellison cooking Shrimp & Grits; Third PlaceRed Hen including Dan Nelson, Gwen Nelson and Matt Nelson cooking Bass/Shrimp Gumbo.

Fowl Division: First PlaceCo-Op Cut Ups including Kirk Green, Jimmy Sims, Jon Mims, Wendell Mims and Shelby Ellison cooking Gobblin Thunder Supreme Pizza; Second PlaceThe Spice Girls including Aprille Cook, Renee Rimer, Kendra Wiard and Rob Rimer cooking Mild But Wild Phesant Chowder; Third PlaceChrist Episcopal Church- Hunting Guild including Chad Wilson, Justin Hart, George O’Rear, Garrett Powe and Ryan Stallings cooking Duck Kabobs.

Game Division: First PlaceGame On including Tim Teel, Jeremy Meares, Jay Steen and Josh Hixon cooking Bacon Buck Poppers; Second PlaceCo-Op Cut Ups including Kirk Green, Jimmy Sims, Jon Mims, Wendell Mims and Shelby Ellison cooking Ruttin Lasagna; Third PlaceRed Hen including Dan Nelson, Gwen Nelson and Matt Nelson cooking Venison Buck Bites.

Best Presentation went to Co-Op Cut Ups while Christ Episcopal Church- Hunting Guild won Best Presentation Runner-Up.

In addition to the great food, there was a silent auction, raffle and entertainment.
