Lemay Farms Wins Best Overall at Lake Martin Wild Game Cook-Off

An aroma of delicious dishes filled the air as AWF Wild Game Cook-Off teams fired up their grills at the Lake Martin Amphitheater on Saturday, May 13th, preparing various mouthwatering fish, fowl and game dishes. With 16 cook teams and close to 400 members and guests in attendance, Lemay Farms captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Venison Gyros. Lemay Farms including John Davis, Steve Lemay, Charlie Carper and Mike Ray will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on August 5, 2017 to compete for the title of AWF 2017 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.

Fish Division: First Place – Co-Op Cut-Ups including Kirk Green, Jimmy Sims, Kristy Seamon and Shelby Ellison cooking Beddin Down; Second Place Johnson Crew including Don Johnson, Sharon Johnson, Dillion Johnson and Amber Johnson cooking Coosa Cake; Third Place – Century 21 Lake Area Realty including Paul & Dee Lewallen, Craig & Michelle Phillips, Alan and Ilham Harper cooking Redfish w/Crawfish Au Gratin.
Fowl Division: First Place – Struttin and Puttin Cookers including Buster Bishop, Wesley Green and Jonathan Seamon cooking Puttin & Struttin Turkey Sliders; Second Place – Johnson Crew including Don Johnson, Sharon Johnson, Dillion Johnson and Amber Johnson cooking Confit Duck Flatbread; Third Place – Chop Shop Chaos including John McKelvey and Regina McKelvey cooking Two Way Duck.
Game Division: First Place – Lemay Farms including John Davis, Steve Lemay, Charlie Carper and Mike Ray cooking Venison Gyros; Second Place – Shana’s Place including Shana Cox, Benjamin Cox, Madison Sanders and Brisa Cook cooking Venison Kabobs; Third Place – Coosa County Cuisine including Matt Mann, Emily Mann, Ricky Mann and Patty Mann cooking Venison Patty Melt.
Youth Division: First Place – Co-Op Kids including Wes Green cooking Venison Pepper Steak; Second Place Baby C including Jasmin, Isaah and Bella cooking B & B Big Buck Quesadilla; Third Place – Little Jokers including Caleb Jones and Eli Self cooking Turkey Devine.
Russell Lands on Lake Martin People’s Choice award went to Coosa County Cuisine. 1st Place Presentation Award went to Co-Op Cut-Ups, while Coosa County Cuisine took home Best Presentation Runner-Up.
