Flora-Bama Yacht Club Wins Best Overall at Gulf Coast Wild Game Cook-Off

Wicked Tuna, Fried Quail Salad and Wild Pig & Deer Tamale were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation / Alabama Army National Guard Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at the at The BLUEGILL Restaurant. With 19 cook teams and over 550 members and guests in attendance, Flora-Bama Yacht Club consisting of Chris Sherrill and Jenny Sherrill captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Lion Fish Nachos.
 
Alabama Wildlife Federation is proud to have BlackRidge Land Company serve as the lead sponsor of five Cook-Offs to help raise funds and awareness for the conservation of Alabama wildlife and natural resources.
 
Fish Division: First Place – Flora-Bama Yacht Club consisting of Chris Sherrill and Jenny Sherrill cooking Lion Fish Nachos; Second Place – Choctaw Bluff consisting of Lister Crosby, Davis McPhillips, Marshall Shields and Bonner Williams cooking Wicked Tuna; Third Place – Salty Worm consisting of Pete Gaillard, Tom Gaillard, Susan Carley and Wayne Miller cooking Delta White Shrimp Sliders.
 
Fowl Division: First Place – Middle Bay Boat Co. consisting of Wes Perry, Jack Crosby, Lance Hill and Chandler Lunceford cooking Fried Quail Salad; Second Place – Mobile County Wildlife & Conservation Association consisting of Tom Leatherbury, Joe McAllen, John Edge and Brooks Hieronymus cooking Coontainer Roll-Ups; Third Place – Mobile, AL NWTF consisting of Jackson Woodson, Bowen Slade, Jamie Esfeller andTerry Knotts cooking Gobbler Poppers.
 
Game Division: First Place – Alfa Insurance consisting of Larry Engel, Bradley Flowers, Hank Newburn and David Stringer cooking Wild Pig & Deer Tamale; Second Place – Middle Bay Boat Co. consisting of Wes Perry, Jack Crosby, Lance Hill and Chandler Lunceford cooking Hare in the Dog; Third Place – Overseas Hardwood Company consisting of Gregory Robinson, Luckett Robinson, Jeff Barnett and Nick Pronesti cooking Venison Chili w/Hushpuppies.
 
Potluck Division: First Place – Iberia Bank consisting of David Brister and Ken Brown, Jr. cooking Iberia Bank.
 
The Alabama Army National Guard People’s Choice Award and Best Prensentation went to Delta Waterfowl-Mobile Bay Chapter.
 
This year's Runner-Up for Presentation Award went to Flora-Bama Yacht Club.
