August 22, 2017

Ed Leigh McMillan, III was recently installed as President of the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) for the 2017-2018 term at the organization’s Annual Meeting on August 4, 2017. McMillan has served on the AWF Board of Directors for over twenty years and brings to AWF a steadfast commitment to the conservation of Alabama’s wildlife and related natural resources.

“Ed and his family are an integral part of the Alabama’s outdoor history and leadership. Longleaf stewardship, wise use and care of our natural resources, wildlife management, and outdoor recreation are hallmarks of their longstanding relationship with the land.  We are fortunate again to have someone with that level of commitment to our natural resources and the Alabama Wildlife Federation serve as our President.  We look forward to a productive term under his leadership.” stated Tim L. Gothard, Executive Director of Alabama Wildlife Federation.

As President, Ed serves on the AWF Executive Committee, as well as the AWF Governor’s Conservation Achievement Awards Committee, and serves on all AWF committees. He is a Managing Partner of McMillan Family Holdings, LLC., and serves on the Board of Directors for Cedar Creek Land and Timber Inc., an Alabama corporation that owns and manages over 215,000 acres of timberland. He is Co-Owner and General Manager of Ceder Creek Lodge, LLC., a family-owned hunting property in Selma, as well as, Co-Owner of Double M Farm, LLC. of Brewton, a cattle farm which raises and sells commercial cross-bred cows and calves. Ed is also Owner and President of McMillan Adventures, LLC.

From an early age, Ed was taught to appreciate the land and its related natural resources. It is a lesson he has practiced and continues to pass on to future generations. He shares these experiences with his wife, Perri and their 3 children, Edward, Rigby and Meredith. They have 5 grandchildren, with the sixth one on the way.

Outside of work, Ed’s interests include current events, politics, cattle, timber, oil & gas, and of course the great outdoors. His hobbies include hunting, fishing and guiding others in almost any outdoor activity. He especially enjoys guiding turkey hunts with first timers, hunting record book whitetails across North America and tarpon fishing along Florida's forgotten coast. He is very excited to put his life-long passion for the outdoors and conservation of its resources to great use as the president of the Alabama Wildlife Federation.
