Co-Op Cut Ups Win Best Overall at the AWF Selma Wild Game Cook-Off

This past Thursday, the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) Selma Wild Game Cook-Off was a huge success; with 14 cook teams and close to 750 members and guests in attendance. An aroma of delicious dishes filled the air as cook teams fired up their grills at the Historic St. James Hotel in Selma; preparing various mouthwatering dishes like Fish ‘N’ A Moss Bed, Morning Dove, and Jack Rabbit Pot Pie .
 
Co-Op Cut Ups captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Crappie Stuffed Steelhead Trout. Co-Op Cut Ups including Kirk Green, Kristy Seamon, Shelby Ellison, Jon Mims and Allison Ellison will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on August 4, 2018 to compete for the title of AWF 2018 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion. Other winners included:

Fish Division: First PlaceCo-Op Cut Ups consisting of Kirk Green, Kristy Seamon, Shelby Ellison, Jon Mims and Allison Ellison cooking Crappie Stuffed Steelhead Trout; Second PlaceSerial Grillers including Richie Spain, Jennifer Spain, Lori Kelly and Chase Kelly cooking Fish ‘N’ A Moss Bed; Third PlaceTrustmark National Bank  consisting of Lee Calame, Elizabeth Jones, Keith Dismukes and Mary Brunson cooking Tricky Trout Tacos.

Fowl Division: First PlaceJus Playin’ consisting of William Newman, David Rinehart, Rebecca McIntyre and Bob Kelley cooking Naughty Bird; Second PlaceTW Dream Team consisting Brian Monk, Joseph Austin, Blake Willis and Ryan Aultman
cooking Mourning Dove; Third PlaceCo-Op Cut Ups consisting of Kirk Green, Kristy Seamon, Shelby Ellison, Jon Mims and Allison Ellison cooking Puttin –N- Struttin.

Game Division: First PlaceHancock’s Country BBQ consisting of Emily Hancock, Erin Wilson, Garrett White and Mary Hicks cooking Swamp & Turf; Second PlaceJus Playin’ consisting of William Newman, David Rinehart, Rebecca McIntyre and Bob Kelley cooking “Doe”liscious; Third PlaceCo-Op Cut Ups consisting of Kirk Green, Kristy Seamon, Shelby Ellison, Jon Mims and Allison Ellison cooking Jack Rabbit Pot Pie.

Youth Division: First PlaceSoutheastern Land Group -Youth consisting of John David Goode and Laura Beth Goode cooking Venison Taco Scoops.

Wind Creek Montgomery People’s Choice award went to Serial Grillers. Best Presentation went to Co-Op Cut Ups while Trustmark Bank won Best Presentation Runner-Up.

In addition to the great food, there was a silent auction, raffle and entertainment.
