Chop Shop Chaos Wins Best Overall at Lake Martin Wild Game Cook-Off

An aroma of delicious dishes filled the air as AWF Wild Game Cook-Off teams fired up their grills at the Lake Martin Amphitheater, preparing various mouthwatering fish, fowl and game dishes. Chop Shop Chaos captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Mallard Point. Chop Shop Chaos including John McKelvey, Regina Mckelvey, Daniel Thompson and Shanna Thompson will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on August 4, 2018 to compete for the title of AWF 2018 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion

An aroma of delicious dishes filled the air as cook teams fired up their grills Saturday, May 12th, preparing various mouthwatering fish, fowl and game dishes. Incredible dishes like Turkey Turnip Green Soup, Venison Bacon Wrap, and Turkish Stew with Catfish Cake were just a few of the tasty dishes served at the Cook-Off.

Fowl Division: First Place – Chop Shop Chaos including John McKelvey, Regina Mckelvey, Daniel Thompson and Shanna Thompson cooking Mallard Point; Second Place – Century 21 Lake Area Realty including Dee Lewallen, Scarlett Gorham, Christie Marvel and Michelle Phillips cooking Pheasant FondueThird Place – Co-Op Cut-Ups including Kirk Green, Kristy Seamon, Jimmy Sims, Allison Ellison and Jeremy Hicks cooking Turkey Pockets.

Youth Division: First Place – Co-Op Kids including Wes Green and Kalee Seamon cooking Venison Roll Ups; Second Place Kaylee’s Cooking including Kaylee Dobbs, Kelsey Jackson, Mia Edwards and Shaunna Smelley cooking Deer Taco Boats; Third Place –  Killer Cooks including Cayden Lewallen, Mitchell Baker and Morgan Phillips cooking Gumbo.

Potluck Division: First Place – Dee’s Nuts including Paul Lewallen, Allen Harper, Mason Marvel and Craig Phillps cooking Turkey Turnip Green Soup.

Russell Lands on Lake Martin People’s Choice award went to Kaylee’s Cooking. 1st Place Presentation Award went to Co-Op Cut-Ups, while Coosa County Cuisine took home Best Presentation Runner-Up.
