Cabela’s Campchefs Wins at Madison County Wild Game Cook-Off

Blackened Surf, Quail Chowder and Wild Boar Quesadilla were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Thursday at the Huntsville Botanical Garden! With 18 cook teams and over 425 members and guests in attendance, Cabela’s Campchefs captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Striper w/Crawfish Puppies. Cabela’s Campchefs including Justin South, Mark Craig, Scott Keeling and Larry Daniel, will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook in August 6, 2016 to compete for the title of AWF 2016 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.

Fowl Division: First Place – Stars 7 Bars BBQ including Blake Lee Dorning, Jan Dorning, David Edwards and Carlita Edwards cooking Quail ChowderSecond Place – Spices Smokehouse including Lynn Entrekin and Robert Entrekin cooking Caribbean Duck; Third Place – Cabela’s Campchefs including Justin South, Mark Craig, Scott Keeling and Larry Daniel
cooking Rattlesnake Rabbit Stuffed Quail.
 
Game Division: First Place – Spices Smokehouse including Lynn Entrekin and Robert Entrekin cooking Wild Boar Quesadilla; Second Place – Plush Deer including David Thomas, Jody Witt, Stacy Alexander and Robby Stephens cooking Boo’s Cajun Deer TamaleThird Place – Cabela’s Campchefs, including Justin South, Mark Craig, Scott Keeling and Larry Daniel cooking Whitetail Breakfast Bake.
 
Potluck Division: First Place – Bama Girl including Amber Wynn cooking Venny Venison Stew.
 
Cabela’s People’s Choice award went to Geeks of Gastronomy. 1st Place Presentation Award went to Bushwackers, while Bootlegg BBQ took home Best Presentation Runner-Up.
