Junior Wildlife Scientist Program: Third Grade

Each year from kindergarten through 5th grade, students can complete Junior Wildlife Scientist activities to earn (2) NEW merit badges and receive a NEW level of certification following the sequence below:

Third Grade
Level 4: Herpetologist (The Study of Reptiles and Amphibians)
   

After studying insects in second grade to become a JWS Entomologist, the third grade students will now focus on studying reptiles and amphibians to become a JWS Herpetologist

To earn the Level 4: Herpetologist certification, the students must take the JWS Pledge and earn the Helpful Habitats and Frog Metamorphosis badges.

For each badge, the student must complete at least three of the JWS Nature Notebook activities (a total of six activities for the year).  The *REQUIRED and *Suggested activities for each badge are noted in the Table of Contents in the nature journal and teacher’s guide.
