Flora and Fauna Arts Festival

Come enjoy nature at its best at AWF's Annual Alabama Flora and Fauna Arts Festival at the NaturePlex in Millbrook, Alabama on Saturday, April 8, 2017. This artistic celebration of Alabama’s magnificent plants and wildlife will feature the original nature-themed works of Alabama artists in a variety of mediums and styles, to include ready-to hang wildlife and floral paintings, wood carvings, photography, drawings, gourd art, ceramics/pottery and much more! This year, the Alabama Black Belt Adventures and the Black Belt Treasures Cultural Arts Center is also taking part in the Festival to showcase artists from the region.  Festival Day will also include plant/gardening presentations, speciality vendors and the annual Lanark Plant Sale; proceeds benefitting the Lanark Gardens.
NaturePlex General Admission applies for this event ($5/person with a $20 maximum per family) and includes visiting the NaturePlex Discovery Hall, theater and this awesome Arts Festival event from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

    - 9:30 am: Donny Tomlin will give a presentation on grafting Japanese Maples
    - 11:00 am:  Dr. Dan Jones, Professor Emeritus at U.A.B. will give a presentation on “Ferns: Alabama’s Gems.” He is an amazing educator and will be generously sharing his beautiful photos of Southeast wildflowers.
    - 1:00 pm:  Maria Pacheco-West will be giving Compost Basics demonstrations.
    - 2:00 pm: Donny Tomlin will give a presentation on grafting Japanese Maples

In honor of Gopher Tortoise Day on April 10, we will be celebrating on April 8th in conjunction with our annual Flora & Fauna Arts Festival. Special activities will take place from 11:00am-2:00pm. We will have live animals as well as crafts and activities for children and adults alike.
