The AWF Youth Fishing Rodeo program is designed to provide Alabama’s youth a chance to experience the outdoors and learn about fishing. Our goal is to instill a lifelong love of fishing and the outdoors in our young people. These events provide opportunities for families to share fun and quality time together while participating in one of our nation’s favorite pastimes.

12th Annual AWF Youth Fishing Rodeo

When:    Saturday, August 9, 2014
Time:      7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Where:   Lanark in Millbrook

The rodeo is open to anyone age 15 and under. Admission is free, however, participants are asked to pre-register as space is limited and all youth must be accompanied by an adult.

Each young angler will receive a t-shirt and will be eligible for door prizes. Snacks and drinks will also be available. In addition, each participant may take home five catfish each, but may catch and release all they would like.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment and bait, though a limited number of loaner rods and reels and some bait will be available on site.

Be a Volunteer!

Members of the AWF Volunteer Fishing Team enjoy the opportunity to influence a child's life forever while making life-long friends. Just ask long-time fishing team member Abner Straughan. "This fishing team is a great way to spend your time. Everyone on the team is great to work with. And helping the kids learn how to fish is the best experience in the world."
