![]() The Alabama Wildlife Federation strives to educate our children about the wonders of Alabama’s outdoors including our rich natural history and biodiversity through our Conservation Education programs. Click on the links below to learn more about each of our programs.
ANC General Public Weekends – The Alabama Nature Center includes 350 acres of striking forests, fields, streams, wetlands and ponds that are traversed by five miles of boardwalks and trails, which can be explored during the ANC General Public Weekends.
Lanark Field Days – Lanark Field Days provides fun and exciting, customized field trip opportunities for students in grades K-12 that address the Alabama Course of Study Objectives through a multi-disciplinary approach.
Expedition Lanark Summer Camp - Expedition Lanark is a full day summer camp that provides hands-on, outdoor educational activities that teach natural resource stewardship, develop leadership skills, and build character. ANC On Tour - Transform your classroom into an environmental learning center by inviting “ANC on Tour” into your classroom. Alabama Outdoor Classrooms – The Alabama Outdoor Classroom Program provides technical and organizational support for schools that wish to create a sustainable, effective outdoor classroom site on their school grounds.
Discovering Our Heritage – The Discovering Our Heritage Program organizes existing environmental education activities into a structured, comprehensive format and provides pre-planned lessons that guide the teacher throughout the scholastic year.
Educator Workshops – The AWF hosts workshops for educators and school volunteers who would like to learn how to integrate conservation education activities and programs into their curriculum.
Youth Wildlife Art Contest – The AWF’s William R. Ireland Sr. Youth Wildlife Art Contest recognizes the outstanding artistic abilities of Alabama’s students, while increasing students’ knowledge and awareness of Alabama’s native wildlife and related wildlife habitat.
Nature’s Classroom Activities – The AWF’s Nature’s Classroom Activities provide hands-on conservation education activities that can be downloaded and printed from our website for FREE.
Conservation Education Search Engine – The AWF’s Conservation Education Search Engine provides a list of conservation education activities that are correlated to the Alabama Course of Study Objectives for Science.
Alabama Wildlife Identification - Learn about Alabama's native wildlife including listening to Alabama's winter frog calls. Conservation Education Articles – A wide variety of conservation education articles can be found on our website with important topics ranging from nature deficit disorder to outdoor classroom planning.
