The Lumbee Smokers Win Best Overall at Quad Cities Wild Game Cook-Off

Bass with Lemon, Butter and Dill, Turkey Baking Roll, Poppin’ Dill Peppers were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Saturday at the Longhorn Arena in Tuscumbia, Alabama! With 29 cook teams and close to 600 members and guests in attendance, The Lumbee Smokers captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious White Tail Chili w/ Antler Wraps. The Lumbee Smokers including Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings, Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Borden, will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook in August 6, 2016 to compete for the title of AWF 2016 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.

Fish Division: First Place – Red Hen including Dan Nelson, Matt Nelson, Tony Bishop, Earl and Karen Walker cooking Bass with Lemon, Butter and DillSecond Place – Hobo Jungle including Terry Pace and Gerald Aker cooking Dish Had No Name; Third Place – Rib Ticklers including Murrell Frazier, Debbie Frazier, Patty Boldin and Jack Stewart cooking Linguine Smoked Salmon.
 
Fowl Division: First Place – Rib Ticklers including Murrell Frazier, Debbie Frazier, Patty Boldin and Jack Stewart cooking Turkey Baking RollSecond Place – The Lumbee Smokers including Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings, Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Borden cooking Gobbler Soup; Third Place – The Brethern including Anthony McGill, Derrell Walton, Ricky Holden and Steven Horton cooking Duck Dressing.
 
Game Division: First Place – The Lumbee Smokers including Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings, Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Borden cooking White Tail Chili with Antler Wraps; Second Place – Bama Girl including Amber Wynn cooking Poppin’ Dill PeppersThird Place – Hobo Jungle including Terry Pace and Gerald Aker cooking Smoked Jalapeno Backstrap.
 
Youth: First Place – Kiroll including Dawn Merchant, Kala Nelsin and Shirley Pierce cooking Deer Pizza Wontons; Second Place –  Feathers, Furs & Fins including Lori Peden, Summer Peden, Jake Peden and Luke Peden cooking Marinated Mallard; Third Place – Jr. Rib Ticklers including Arianna Frazier and Coral Frazier cooking Bed of Talapia.
 
Potluck: First Place – Kimoki including Dawn Merchant, Tet Merchant, Ash McClean and Leanne Merchant cooking Brunswick StewSecond Place – Sweet B including Bethany Beasley cooking Venny Venison Stew; Third Place – We-Are-Wild including Michael Luker, Diane Luker, Violett Luker and Colton Hensley cooking Buckwild Cabbage Stew.
 
The Lumbee Smokers took home and the Alabama Army National Guard People’s Choice Award and Best Presentation Award and 2nd Place Presentation Runner-Up Award went to The Rack Shack Taxidermy Shop.
