Monster of the Wild Side Cook Team Wins Best Overall at Morgan County Wild Game Cook-Off

Catfish Atchafalaya, Pecan Smoked Grecian Gobbler and Roux-Ga-Roux were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Ingalls Harbor in Decatur! Twenty-nine cook teams battled it out but “Monster” of the Wild Side Cook Team consisting of Frank Troup, Scott Curry, Rob Pettey and Dan Durbin captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Smoked Rack of Elk w/ Boursin Cheese.
 
While “Monster” of the Wild Side Cook Team won Best Overall, they certainly weren’t the only team serving up good food at the event. Other winners included:
 
Fish Division: First Place – Domino’s consisting of Andy Villarreal, John South, Mark Hopper and Michael McAbee cooking Catfish Atchafalaya; Second Place – Bama Girl consisting of Amber Wynn cooking Blackened Surf; Third Place – Bootlegg BBQ consisting of Mike Page, Kedia Page, Jennifer Nickell and Stacey Nickell cooking Alligator w/Blue Crab and Crawfish Cream.
 
Fowl Division: First Place – Distressed Doe Cook Team consisting of Raymon “Flame” Haley, Michael Hulsey, John Alton Haley, Brooks Johnson and Dyllan McWhorter y cooking Pecan Smoked Grecian Gobbler; Second Place – The Lumbee Smokers consisting of Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings, Sr., Derrick Cummings and Tim Borden cooking Fly Sweetness; Third Place – “Monster” of the Wild Side Cook Team consisting of Frank Troup, Scott Curry, Rob Pettey and Dan Durbin cooking Quail Stuffed w/Mango Ricotta Cheese.
 
Game Division: First Place – “Monster” of the Wild Side Cook Team consisting of Frank Troup, Scott Curry, Rob Pettey and Dan Durbin cooking Smoked Rack of Elk w/Boursin Cheese; Second Place – Roux-Ga-Roux consisting of Nathon Williams, Donna Williams, Chad Peters and Frankie Harris cooking Buffalo Rabbit Sliders; Third Place – Cooks On The Wild Side consisting of Howard Godbee, Victor Malonas, Phillip Cofield, Brook Cofield cooking Venison Wraps.
 
Youth Division: First Place – Young Guns consisting cooking Crab Cake Sliders; Second Place – Legacy consisting of Jeffrey Wynn cooking Lazy Shrimp; Third Place – Jr. Rib Ticklers consisting of Arianna Frazier, Coral Frazier, Miller Howse and Monroe Howse cooking Turkey Nacho Cheese.
 
Pot Luck Division: First Place – Lumbee Squaws consisting of Anita Cummings, Mandy Borden, Beth Raley and Stacey Howard cooking Grandmaw’s Jumping Dumplings; Second Place – Lawrence County Rednecks consisting of Keith Kelsoe, Summer Kelsoe, Michael Brown and Cheryl Johnson cooking Deer & Shrimp Gumbo; Third Place – Sweet B consisting of Bethany Beasley cooking Porky Pot Stew.
 
First Place Presentation Award went to The Lumbee Smokers, and Roux-Ga-Roux came in Best Presentation Runner-Up.
