KBeeQue Wins Best Overall at Limestone County Wild Game Cook-Off
 
Crawfish Stuffed Cat & Grits, Southern Deviled Quail and Ground Deer Wonton were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Tuesday at the Canebrake Club in Athens! With 21 cook teams and close to 500 members and guests in attendance, KBeeQue captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Deer Cheddar Slippers. KBeeQue including Ken Merchant and Michelle Merchant, will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook in August 6, 2016 to compete for the title of AWF 2016 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.

Fish Division: First Place – Hickory Barn BBQ, including Bill Davis, Mary Shafer, Justin Puckett and Justin Self cooking Crawfish Stuffed Cat 7 GritsSecond Place – Jiffy’s including Coogan Preston, Brandon Nix, John McFarland and Jason Ingram cooking Blackened Mahi Mahi; Third Place – Rib Ticklers including Murrell Frazier, Charlie Howse, Patty Boldin and Leslie Frazier cooking Sorry Charlie!.
 
Fowl Division: First Place – Athens Professional Firefighters Assoc. including Jeff Jones, Neil Montgomery, Tom Lewis, Colton Hill and Lee Marker cooking Conquistador DelightSecond Place Paper Mouths including Michael Medlen, Joey Jackson and Mike King cooking Southern Deviled Quail; Third Place – The Village People including Wes Henry, Jay Romine and Mitchell Henry cooking Speckleberry Pie.
 
Game Division: First Place – KBeeQue including Ken Merchant and Michelle Merchant cooking Deer Cheddar Slippers; Second Place Crosseyed Crickets including William Meeks cooking Ground Deer WontonThird Place – Jiffy’s including Coogan Preston, Brandon Nix, John McFarland and Jason Ingram cooking Venison Meatloaf.
 
Potluck Division: First Place – 1st National Bank including Ray Neese, Steve Smith, Russ Mitchell and Jeff Hodges cooking Gumbo.
 
Youth Division: First Place – Rib Ticklers Jr. cooking Sammy Salmon.
 
Bear Defense People’s Choice award went to Paper Mouths. 1st Place Presentation Award went to Hickory Barn BBQ, while Crosseyed Crickets took home Best Presentation Runner-Up.
