Johnson Crew Wins Best Overall at Lake Martin Wild Game Cook-Off

Chimney Rock E’toufee, Turkey Salad and Gator Stew were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Saturday at the Lake Martin Amphitheater in Eclectic! With 20 cook teams and close to 450 members and guests in attendance, Johnson Crew captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Lake Martin Surprise. Johnson Crew including Don Johnson, Sharon Johnson, Dillon Johnson and Amber Johnson, will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook in August 6, 2016 to compete for the title of AWF 2016 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.

Fowl Division: First Place – Coop Cut-Ups including Kirk Green, Jimmy Sims, Keith Hay and Wendell Mims cooking Turkey SaladSecond Place Smokin’ & Jokin’ BBQ including Chad Jones, Khara Jones, Blake Self and Rachel Self cooking Goat Island Gobble; Third Place – Coosa County Cuisine including Matt Mann, Emily Mann, Ricky Mann and Patty Mann cooking Pheasant Buckwheat Crepes.
 
Game Division: First Place – Chop Shop Chaos including John McKelvey, Regina McKelvey and Leonard McKelvey cooking Plain & Simple; Second Place – Century 21 Lake Area Realty including Dee Lawallen and Paul Lewallen cooking Gator StewThird Place – Coosa County Cuisine including Matt Mann, Emily Mann, Ricky Mann and Patty Mann cooking Venison Cheesesteak Flatbread.
 
Youth Division: First Place – Little Jokers including Caleb Jones and Eli Self cooking Turkey Florentine Rollups; Second Place –  Fish Tales Minnows including Davis Barnett, Dawson Barnett, Bowen Caves and Wilder Caves cooking Deer Dogs; Third Place –  Kaylee’s Cooking including Kaylee Dobbs cooking Turkey Quesadillas.
 
Russell Lands on Lake Martin People’s Choice award went to Fish Tales. 1st Place Presentation Award went to Coop Cut-Ups, while Coosa County Cuisine took home Best Presentation Runner-Up.
