Alabama Blackbelt Adventures Wins Best Overall at Tri-County Wild Game Cook-Off

Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Soy, Smoked Duck Fajitas and Buck Burritos were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Thursday at the AWF Headquarters in Millbrook! With 34 cook teams and over 1200 members and guests in attendance, Alabama Blackbelt Adventures captured the top prize of "Best Overall," with their scrumptious Smoked Quail with Tomato Gravy. Alabama Blackbelt Adventures including Pam Swanner and Phillip Davis, will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on August 6, 2016 to compete for the title of AWF 2016 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion. 
 
While Alabama Blackbelt Adventures won Best Overall, they certainly weren’t the only team serving up good food at the event. Other winners included:
 
Fish Division: First Place – MAX Credit Union including Tony Graydon, Drew Moore, Kenneth Hill and Robin Burkett cooking Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Soy; Second Place – Southern Smokeshack BBQ cooking Blackened Catfish with Smoked Gouda Grits; Third Place – Screamin Goat Ninjas including Cary Cox, Mike Hicks, Bethany Cox and Tanner Hicks cooking Bream with Vodka Cream.
 
Fowl Division: First Place – Alabama Blackbelt Adventures including Pam Swanner and Phillip Davis cooking Smoked Quail with Tomato Gravy; Second Place – Peppertree Pit Crew including Jeff Verner, John Mosley, Tyler Verner and Drew Bass cooking Smoked Duck Fajitas; Third Place – Marshall Design Grill including Andy Davidson, Terry Craft, Travis Marshall and Marvin White cooking Pheasant Fajita Gumbo.
 
Game Division: First Place – Palomar including Todd Johnson, Thomas Adair, Bruce Garrett and Len Skipper cooking Buck Burritos; Second Place – Hodges Warehouse & Logistics including Jay Tidwell, Ruby Jean Tidwell, O.L. Smith, Ena Piao and Joshua Tidwell cooking Korean Venison & Asian Slaw; Third Place – Alabama Blackbelt Adventures including Pam Swanner and Phillip Davis cooking Venison Cheeseburger Pizza.
 
Potluck Division: First Place – Chonita’s Cookers including Mark & Severa McGrady cooking Elk Philly Cheese Egg Rolls; Second Place – McQuick Printing Co. including Brad Hill, Shannon Young, Bill McGough and Harold Dick cooking Swamp Monkey Chili.
 
Youth Division: First Place – Baby C including Jasmine, Issah and Bella cooking Buckaroo Egg Rolls.
 
The POWERSPORTS of Montgomery People’s Choice Award went to Coop Cut-Ups. Best Presentation Award went to Wind Creek Montgomery and the Presentation Runner-Up Award went to Chonita’s Cookers.
