CHOP SHOP CHAOS WINS ALABAMA WILDLIFE FEDERATION WILD GAME COOK-OFF STATE FINALS
Duck Gone Wild, Cajun Cornbread Stuffed Quail, and Loopin' Around the World were just some of the tasty dishes offered at the Alabama Wildlife Federation’s (AWF) Wild Game Cook-Off State Finals held at AWF’s headquarters (Lanark) in Millbrook last Saturday, August 4. This championship event is a combination of winners from the regional events throughout the year. Twelve teams were there to win the coveted State Champion Title, not to mention the $1,000 grand prize that goes along with it!
The judges, Tom Stackhouse, President/CEO of Central Alabama Electric Co-Op; Kenny Hinds, General Manager of Millbrook Walmart; Marcy Novak, WAKA Morning/Noon Meteorologist and Eric Christian, Bass Pro Shops Merchandise Manager for Prattville, Alabama had a tough time, but in the end Lake Martin's Chop Shop Chaos placed first with their delicious
Duck Gone Wild. John & Regina McKelvey, Chris McKelvey, Wesley Carter, Chad Jones made up team the winning team.
Winners from the Lee County Cook-Off, Peppertree Pit Crew including Jeff Verner, Tyler Verner, Hayden Verner, Donnie Watkins and John Mosley secured second place with their delicious
Cajun Cornbread Stuffed Quail. First year participants, The Lumbee Smokers of Talladega Cook-Off including Bracy Cummings, Jr., Bracy Cummings, Sr., Derrick Cummings, Tim Borden took home third for their delectable
Loopin' Around The World.
The Alabama Army National Guard People’s Choice Award went to Pigs on Fire from Limestone County Cook-Off including Mike Barnes, Blake Gray, Stacey Harraway and Mark Andironi.
This year's 1st Place Presentation Award went to Co-Op Cut Ups, while the Rib Ticklers took a close 2nd.
In addition to the great food, there was a silent auction, raffle and entertainment provided by Sam Marsal.
