AWF to Recognize Conservation Achievement Award Recipients
 
The Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) will present this year’s AWF Governor’s Conservation Achievement Awards (GCAA) at a formal banquet, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, at the Marriott Legends at Capitol Hill in Prattville.
 
The AWF Governor’s Conservation Achievement Awards, considered the most prestigious conservation honor in the state of Alabama, promote leadership by example and in turn increase conservation of our natural resources including our wildlife, forests, soils, water and air.  Over the past 30 years, AWF has presented these awards to individuals and organizations that make great contributions to the conservation of Alabama’s wildlife and related natural resources. 
 
This year’s award recipients are:
Conservationist of the Year, Representative Randy Davis, Daphne
Wildlife Conservationist of the Year, Jack and Mary McQuinn, Huntsville
Forest Conservationist of the Year, Jerry Kyser, Montgomery
Water Conservationist of the Year, William G. Deutsch, Auburn
Soil Conservationist of the Year, Pam Mason, Wetumpka
Air Conservationist of the Year, Southern Lime Company, Calera
Conservation Organization of the Year, River Region Birding Club
Conservation Communicator of the Year, Jeff Dute, Bay Minette
Conservation Educator of the Year, Charles Herron, Tallassee
Judicial Conservationist of the Year, Judge Mac Russell, Greenville
Legislative Conservationist of the Year, Representative Mike Hubbard, Auburn
Conservation Enforcement Officer of the Year, Officer Luke Lemley, Huntsville
Hunter Safety Instructor of the Year, Jerry Riley, Dothan
Youth Conservationist of the Year, Kelsey Lane Henderson, Montgomery
