Critters Hit the Ground Running at the Alabama Nature Center's Critter Crawl

Even though the weather was a little brisk the trails at the Alabama Nature Center's Third Annual Critter Crawl were on fire! Over 300 runners participated in Saturday's race. This run was a fantastic way to expose people to beautiful trails located at Lanark in Millbrook.

The 5K TRAIL RUN and 1 mile race took runners through a portion of the Alabama Nature Center's 5 mile trail system.  Jason Gerard took first place with a time of 20:05; while Luke Culpepper came in at 20:16, pulling a close second. Brandon Bulger finished third with a time of 20:51.

Jason Walker, who ran the 5K with his older sons Hugh and Grant also went the extra mile with his youngest son, Eli stated, "My family has always enjoyed spending time at the Alabama Nature Center. The Critter Crawl has become an annual tradition for us, beautiful surroundings, wonderful staff, and a great family atmosphere."

Although most people wore your standard running attire, there were a few skunks, raccoons, birds and other critters running lose on the property. The Road Runner trio took home the 1st place prize in the adult contest, while a beautiful butterfly took home the little critter award.
