2016 Critter Crawl Winners

February 13, 2016

Even though the weather was a little brisk, the trails at the Alabama Nature Center's Sixth Annual Critter Crawl were on fire! Around 200 runners participated in Saturday's race. This run was a fantastic way to expose people the beautiful trails as well as the new NaturePlex facility located at Lanark in Millbrook.

The 5K Trail Run and 1 Mile Race took runners through a portion of the Alabama Nature Center's 5 mile trail system.  Zach Taylor, age 18, came in with the fastest time of 19:21; while Gabe Rissman, age 13, had the second best finish of 20:45 on the 5K Trail Run. Jesse Anderson, age 35, also had a fantastic time and came in less than a minute under Gabe at 21:30.

Although most people wore your standard running attire, there were a few wild critters running around; including raccoons, foxes, bears, cats, a rabbit and even an alligator. An adorable raccoon took home the 1st place prize in the critter contest.
