THE EVENT:
Alabama Wildlife Federation along with Gusto is proud to present Gusto Gundog Field Days - training gundogs “The Wildrose Way” with Mike Stewart of Wildrose Kennels, Oxford, MS. www.uklabs.com. Wildrose specializes in producing wingshooting and adventure dog companions known as “The Gentleman’s Gundog” - a superb destination wingshooting companion. The Wildrose methodology utilizes a unique, positive, and balanced training approach suitable for retrievers, pointers, and flushing breeds that is specifically designed for sporting families desiring a versatile wingshooting companion.

The highly interactive and hands-on instruction you will receive is supported by a comprehensive training book and two DVDs. Experience the exact methodology, “The Wildrose Way”, which was used to train two Ducks Unlimited mascots, Drake and Deke, and is currently being used to produce the upcoming mascot for White Tail Unlimited for shed and game recovery.

The course is open to all breeds, started to finished levels, and will address the essential behaviors and skills necessary for sporting dogs: steadiness, gamefinding, quartering, patience and focus, whistle control, wing & shot, delivery, hand signals, water work, shed hunting, tracking.

THE PLACE:
Gusto is an 800 acre, private upland estate located 15 miles south of Montgomery, Alabama near Hayneville. Mr. Thomas Harris, an avid wingshooter and gundog enthusiast, has developed Gusto to provide managed pine and grassland quail habitats and quail hunting opportunities, dove fields and dove shoots, and quality fishing in several managed lakes of the estate. This combination of habitats and features provide the perfect setting for gundog training for both upland and waterfowl elements.

THE AGENDA:
Customized, hands-on instruction is the primary focus of Gusto Gundog Field Days.  Michael Stewart will design each training segment to best match his assessment of the needs of the participating gundogs and gundog owners.  All events are limited to the 45 primary participants except for the Friday evening Social/Dinner and Michael Stewart Seminar which will be open to a limited number of additional gundog enthusiasts.
